Piece of the Week: Platinum ‘Dream Catchers’
These dramatic-yet-subtle earrings are from the Platinum Born “Celestial” collection.

We spent an entire day at the Miami Jewelry School and, with (a lot of) help from the school’s director, Master Jeweler Marc Thurn, and a few kind and patient instructors, we each made a platinum band.
So, what did we learn?
First, that working at the bench is hard, but the end result is extremely satisfying.
It was so refreshing to spend a day working with our hands instead of sitting in front of the screen, and we’re all still amazed that we made (again, with a lot of help) a platinum ring.
Second, we learned that none of us will be quitting our jobs as editors to become award-winning jewelry designers any time soon.
While we are proud of the bands we crafted, they are not quite Piece of the Week worthy, but these platinum earrings are.
From the “Celestial” collection, one of five new Platinum Born collections unveiled last fall, the “Dream Catcher” earrings feature brilliant-cut platinum beads for a look that’s dramatic but still subtle enough for everyday wear.
They retail for $1,940.
Platinum Born is available for wholesale. Retailers interested in carrying the line can email sales@platinumborn.com or call 1-888-869-5419.
