Natural Diamond Council’s First Print Magazine Is Out

New York—The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) has added a print magazine to its advertising strategy to promote diamond jewelry to consumers.

Kicking off the new venture with a bang, actress Gabrielle Union fronts the inaugural Only Natural Diamonds Spring/Summer 2023 issue in a David Webb necklace and rings and Mateo earrings, in a story lensed by Shaniqwa Jarvis.

Writer Christine Whitney interviewed Union on some of her favorite personal memories relating to diamonds, her best professional diamond moments on the red carpet, and what’s next for her career.

Actress Keirnan Shipka stars in a fashion editorial in the issue, while one article charts NDC ambassador Lily James’ trip to visit the Karowe mine in Botswana. 

Several articles are dedicated to diamond jewelry trends, profiles of players in the diamond world, and jewelry editorials.

The issue was spearheaded by Only Natural Diamonds Editor-in-Chief Sam Broekema, formerly of publications like In Style and Harper’s Bazaar, while contributors include The Adventurine’s Marion Fasel, Broken English CEO Laura Freedman, writer Jill Newman, and creative director and fashion editor Haidee Findlay-Levin.

“The decision to move into print was a collaborative one. It is the culmination of how far we have come editorially in such a short period,” said Broekema.

“The magazine is a love letter to natural diamonds. We have the opportunity to share them with the world in all of their sparkling glory in a legacy medium. From glamorous shoots to real life accounts of how natural diamonds affect the livelihood of 10 million people globally, the magazine has something for everyone.”

The first issue of the Only Natural Diamonds magazine hit newsstands in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and London on June 27.

The biannual publication’s next issue will be the Fall/Winter 2023 edition.

Prior to rebranding as the Natural Diamond Council, the organization dedicated to promoting diamonds was called the Diamond Producers Association. 

“In only three years as the NDC, our Only Natural Diamonds consumer-facing digital editorial and advertising platform, the hub of which is naturaldiamonds.com, succeeds in engaging the next generation luxury customer,” said NDC Managing Director and CMO Kristina Buckley Kayel.

“The response to our impact led us to the progression of tangibly presenting the incredible and integrous world of natural diamonds with a biannual print publication. Being not-for-profit and brand agnostic has enabled us to be limitless in capturing the dynamism of this industry, from designers to rangers in Botswana! Having installed our own in-house editorial and content production team under Sam Broekema’s leadership over the last year, coupled with diamond demand still strong in the U.S. and growing abroad, the timing to do so now was just right.”
