The SAG Awards Were a Love Letter to Cartier, Bulgari

The big jewelry houses delivered lots of diamond and colored gemstone drama.

Diamonds, emeralds, tanzanite, rubies, aquamarine, and spinel were out in force at the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, held Sunday night in Los Angeles.

High jewelry from the likes of Bulgari and Cartier, statement necklaces, and show-stopping chandelier earrings were just some of the trends.

We depend on Zendaya for a serious red-carpet jewelry look and she delivered big at the SAG Awards.

The Bulgari ambassador was a vision in one of the Italian jewelry house’s high jewelry necklaces in yellow gold with a 32.13-carat tanzanite, 24.27-carat morganite, 24.88-carat aquamarine, 17 round spinels totaling 12.77 carats, and 47.19 total carats of diamonds.

While some coordinating colored gemstone jewels in a similar color palette would have painted the perfect picture, she opted to add white metal and white diamond pieces to the mix.

They were: a white gold high jewelry bracelet with 44.93 carats of diamonds; a platinum high jewelry ring with a 4.08-carat cushion-cut diamond and 2.68 carats of additional diamonds; and simple diamond stud earrings weighing 2.3 carats each.

To present at the ceremony, Zendaya managed an outfit change and that included jewelry.

She took a high jewelry rose gold collar with 64-carat aquamarine, 21.45 total carats of diamonds, and mother-of-pearl for a whirl, as well as a high jewelry Serpenti ring in rose gold with an 11.53-carat cabochon ruby, diamonds and onyx.

A more successful interpretation of mixed metals came courtesy of “Wednesday” star and nominee Jenna Ortega in Tiffany & Co.

She wore the house’s “Schlumberger Thirty Six Stone Necklace” in platinum and 18-karat yellow gold with diamonds; “Schlumberger Twenty Stone Hoop Earrings” in white and yellow gold with diamonds; a “Tiffany Edge” bypass bracelet in platinum and yellow gold with diamonds; and a “Schlumberger Rope” ring in white and yellow gold with diamonds.

Extra points for her black Atelier Versace gown that was channeling her Wednesday Addams character.

Model and actress Cara Delevingne displayed her rarely seen classic side Sunday night, sporting a clean diamond look, all by De Beers, with her black ensemble.

Most impressive was the “Midnight Aura Necklace” in 18-karat white gold with a total 74.73 carats of diamonds from “The Alchemist of Light” collection.

Her earrings were from the same set and collection, crafted in 18-karat rhodium-plated white gold with 9.58 carats of diamonds.

She also wore a platinum and diamond bracelet (17.03 carats), platinum and round brilliant diamond eternity band (7.15 carats), platinum and diamond ring (6.8 carats), platinum and emerald-cut diamond eternity band (6.14 carats), and the “Adonis Rose Pear” ring in platinum and diamonds (5.4 carats).

It was a red Serpenti on the red-carpet moment for Emily Blunt, who paired her red and floral Oscar de la Renta gown with a Bulgari high jewelry Serpenti necklace in rose gold with a 2.2-carat oval-shaped diamond, marquise rubies weighing a total 7.88 carats, and 21.3 carats of pavé-set diamonds.

She topped off the look with a 3.57-carat ruby and diamond ring in platinum and “Serpenti Viper” earrings in 18-karat rose gold with diamonds.

Arguably, Bulgari should have received its own award for jewelry MVP at the SAG Awards, delivering one dramatic look after another.

“Till” star Danielle Deadwyler shined in her yellow diamond jewels from the house.

She wore a high jewelry platinum and diamond necklace with 12.43-carat rectangular yellow diamond and 15.82 carats of diamonds, and a high jewelry platinum and diamond ring with 3.15-carat princess-cut yellow diamond and white diamonds.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” actor and SAG award winner Ke Huy Quan’s suit got a lot more interesting thanks to De Beers high jewelry.

From “The Alchemist of Light” collection, Quan sported the spectacular “Ascending Shadows” brooch in 18-karat white gold, titanium, blue aluminum, and 17.08 carats of diamonds.

Bulgari may have gone all out, but this editor’s favorite look of the night was from Cartier.

Amanda Seyfried donned an exquisite pair of platinum, emerald, diamond, and onyx high jewelry earrings highlighted by the actress’ updo. It turns out emerald and peridot may be a great combination, as the emeralds perfectly suited Seyfried’s Prada gem-hued gown.

To prove the point, the actress wore an 18-karat white gold, peridot, pink sapphire, and diamond bracelet, also from Cartier’s high jewelry collection.

Also making the case for earrings as focal point was Jessica Chastain, who shares stylist Elizabeth Stewart with Seyfried.

Chastain wore Gucci high jewelry earrings replete with a variety of colored gemstones, plus a two-finger ring. (The actress starred in a Gucci high jewelry campaign last year.)

The jewels must have been lucky as Chastain took home a statue for her performance in “George & Tammy.”

Actress and 2023 SAG Awards ambassador Antonia Gentry was the picture of an ingenue in a diamond look by Reza.

She wore a white gold necklace with marquise-cut diamonds, white gold and oval-cut diamond stud earrings, and a white gold and emerald-cut diamond solitaire ring.

Diamond ear climbers were a dramatic and unexpected accessory for actress, writer, and comedian Jenny Slate.

Graziela aced the assignment with its “Floating Diamond Fringe Ear Climbers” with a total 3.98 carats of diamonds.

Even those who haven’t seen cult-favorite TV show “The White Lotus” may consider themselves fans of actress Meghann Fahy after seeing her SAG Awards look.

The dramatic 18-karat white gold and diamond earrings were the “Reflection de Cartier” style. Fahy also wore three different Cartier “Love” rings in 18-karat white gold with diamonds.

Also a member of the Cartier fan club was actress Kathryn Newton who shined in “Pluie de Cartier” earrings, necklace, and bracelet all in 18-karat white gold and diamonds.

She also wore a Cartier Maillon Panthère ring and Étincelle de Cartier ring, also in 18-karat white gold and diamonds.

This awards season belongs to actress Michelle Yeoh, who has been taking home award after award for her performance in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

A known jewelry lover, she shined in white and yellow diamond chandelier earrings by Moussaieff as well as a vivid yellow diamond ring. She also sported a Richard Mille timepiece with her Schiaparelli gown.

Like Seyfried, “The Crown” actress Elizabeth Debicki also mixed shades of green with her jewels and gown, all by Dior.

The emerald and diamond “Galons Dior” earrings and emerald “Tie & Dior” ring from Dior high jewelry collections were statement-making.

A good award show needs one back jewelry moment, and it came to the 2023 SAG Awards courtesy of Hannah Einbinder.

The actress and comedian wore a fabulously long De Beers “Wavy Lines” diamond necklace in 18-karat white gold with 53.08 total carats of diamonds down her backless dress.

She also wore De Beers diamond studs and rings.

In the battle between Cartier and Bulgari to deliver the best SAG Awards jewelry, it looks like an even tie.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” star Stephanie Hsu wore the former, accenting her colorful dress with sparkling white diamonds and pops of color.

She wore Cartier high jewelry earrings in 18-karat white gold with rubies, onyx, and diamonds; a high jewelry bracelet in platinum with spinels and diamonds; and a “Reflection de Cartier” ring in 18-karat white gold with diamonds.
