Piece of the Week: İTÄ Jewelry’s ‘Danza’ Ring
It mixes diamond shapes and colors.
İTÄ Jewelry is rooted in cross-cultural relationships and similarities.
Helmed by two designers, Inesita Capó was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, while Äfet Burcu Salargil is from Istanbul, Turkey.
Building on two decades of friendship, the two launched İTÄ Jewelry in 2019, pulling from symbols found in Turkish and Caribbean cultures.
In the “Txirimiri” collection (the Basque word for light rain), the designers were inspired by the swirling shapes found in caves and decorating pottery in the Caribbean from the Taíno people. They noted the similarity between symbols in Turkish pottery, in ancient Greek temple mosaics, and in knot and pattern illustrations in Celtic bibles.
The “Danza” ring represents an amalgamation of such symbols, a distillation of many cultures into a universal figure that hints at humanity’s commonalities.
Crafted in 14-karat yellow gold, the bold design mixes 0.18 carats of white baguette-cut diamonds with 0.06 carats of white marquise-cut diamonds, 0.07 carats of white round diamonds, and 0.18 carats of cognac round diamonds.
Priced at $3,200, it’s available on the brand’s website.
