Christie’s Online Summer Jewelry Auction Totals $5.1M
The star of the sale, a 24-carat heart-shaped diamond, went for $2 million.

The online-only auction was held from Aug. 4-18, selling 94 percent by lot and attracting bids from buyers in 28 countries, 16 percent of which were first-time registrants.
Leading the way was a 24.45-carat D-color, internally flawless, Type IIa heart-shaped diamond pendant that garnered $2 million, the second-highest price paid for a jewel sold in an online auction at Christie’s.
The diamond had a pre-sale estimate of $1.6 million-$2.6 million.
Last year, a 28.86-carat D-color, emerald-cut, VVS1 Type IIa diamond garnered $2.1 million in another Christie’s online auction.
“The Summer Sunrise” was the sale’s second highest-grossing lot.
The 9.83-carat, VS1 fancy vivid orange-yellow diamond ring sold for $810,000, followed by a 10.08-carat emerald-cut diamond ring with tapered baguette-cut diamond accents in platinum and white gold that went for $325,000.
At No. 4 was a pair of earrings set with pear brilliant-cut diamonds weighing 5.05 carats and 5.01 carats in platinum that sold for $250,000.
Rounding out the top five was the 6.29-carat oval diamond, triangular-cut diamond, and platinum ring seen below, which sold for $237,500.
Christie’s online jewelry auction also featured a range of fancy color diamonds in various settings, including a fancy orangey-pink diamond ring that sold for $43,750 and a fancy intense pink diamond ring that realized $40,000.
