Phillips Adds West Coast Jewelry Specialist
Alexis Vourvoulis joins the auction house from Bonhams, marking the third jewelry executive to do so.
New York—Phillips has recruited another Bonhams employee for its growing jewelry team.
The auction house announced Tuesday that Alexis Vourvoulis, who has worked as a jewelry specialist at Bonhams Los Angeles since 2017, is joining Phillips as a senior specialist and vice president in California.
Thompson followed Abeles to Phillips in April of this year and is the auction house’s global head of jewelry.
Abeles is based in New York and Thompson in Hong Kong. Vourvoulis will work out of Los Angeles and report to Abeles.
Prior to her time at Bonhams, Vourvoulis was the owner of the Bijoux Society in Paris, which offered private sales, consulting services and historic jewelry education to its clients.
She also worked as managing partner at the Worth Collection in Palm Beach, Florida. There, she headed all sales and jewelry buying.
In a press release announcing Vourvoulis’ hire, Abeles said: “Alexis has a deep understanding of the jewelry market and a commitment to putting clients first. A well-respected expert in the industry having worked in Florida, California, New York and Paris, she is passionate about estate jewelry, possesses extraordinary personal skills and is actively working with a number of charitable organizations. She’s a great addition to our team.”
