Large diamonds highlight Christie’s April sale
A pair of circular-cut D-color internally flawless diamond ear pendants are expected to sell for as much as $10 million at Christie’s April 16 sale of Magnificent Jewels.
The circular diamonds weigh 22.60 and 22.31-carats and are mounted in platinum.
The auction will be held in New York and is expected to total in excess of $50 million.
Another highlight of the auction is a 40.43-carat oval-cut, D-color diamond set into a platinum ring. Graded by the Gemological Institute of America as having VVS1 clarity, the lot has a pre-sale high estimate of $7.8 million.
The auction also will offer pieces from the Collection of Riki and Jerome Shaw, including a platinum and 18-karat rose gold Harry Winston ring featuring a 6.10-carat cut-cornered, rectangular-cut fancy intense pink diamond, flanked on either side by a tapered baguette-cut diamond.
The ring is expected to sell for up to $6 million.
Riki is an advocate for animal rights and rescue in the U.S., and her the sale of her jewelry at Christie’s is expected to fetch more than $6 million, with all of the proceeds benefiting cage-free shelters in the fight against animal cruelty.
The sale also will offer additional colorless and colored diamonds, colored gemstones and signed jewels from names including JAR, Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co., Cartier and Graff.
