Paula Crevoshay Lands in a Museum
The jewelry designer’s work is the focus of an exhibition opening in December at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

Los Angeles—The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County draws gem lovers to its mineral and gemstone collection, and now it will showcase those gems’ potential in the hands of a talented jewelry designer.
“Art of the Jewel: The Crevoshay Collection” will feature 54 works by Paula Crevoshay, including earrings, bracelets and brooches, alongside the museum’s loose gems and minerals.
The exhibition will highlight the journey of Crevoshay’s work, from rough mineral to polished gemstone to finished piece of jewelry, demonstrating the connection between nature, art and science, the museum said.
The works on display—most of which take their visual form from the natural world, depicting plants and insects—will showcase myriad stones, including opal, moonstone, diamonds, pearls and even domestic varieties like Montana sapphires and California and Maine tourmalines.
The exhibition’s opening reception will take place Dec. 6 and the show will be open to the public from Dec. 7 to May 12, 2019.
