New York—This weekend, a new jewelry line will be introduced to retailers at the Select Show in Washington D.C.

Michael Michaud Fine Jewelry Designs is a line of 14-karat and 24-karat gold-plated silver jewelry that takes its inspiration quite literally from nature. The namesake designer creates molds from leaves, branches and flowers to create his pieces.

Earrings from Michael Michaud Fine Jewelry Designs, which wholesales largely for under $450Michaud also has a signature, hand-finished technique for his plating in which he adds additional layers of gold accent for a dappled, natural effect that shows a variety of shades of the metal. Many of the pieces feature freshwater and keshi pearls.

Priced on average in the $27 to $95 wholesale range, the line is intended to be consumer friendly in terms of price point to encourage impulse purchases from customers.

While Michael Michaud may be new to the jewelry industry, the designer has been making jewelry and developing his techniques for 30 years.

The brand is owned by Four Seasons Design Group, a Long Island, New York-based manufacturer of botanical-themed jewelry and home accessories, headed by brothers Steven and Matthew Lazar.

Steve Feldman, an alum of Hasenfeld-Stein and former publisher of Lustre and National Jeweler who recently joined Four Seasons as vice president of sales and marketing, explained via e-mail: “Michael designs exclusively for us, and has for over 20 years. During that time he has created hand patina-ed bronze jewelry for the leading museums, galleries and specialty shops all over the world. For example, our necklace and earrings are the only jewelry on the cover of the 2018 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Holiday Catalog.”

Michaud’s work has adorned actresses and political figures, including former Secretary of State and Ambassador to the United Nations Madeline Albright, who featured a few pins of his design in her book, “Read My Pins … Stories from a Diplomat’s Jewel Box.”

Even more impressive is Michaud’s “Survivor Tree Collection,” which was commissioned based off the casting of a flower from a Callery pear tree that miraculously withstood the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center.

Michael Michaud Fine Jewelry Designs will debut to retailers this Sunday at the Select Show.
