New DVD Course Offers Training in Jewelry Rendering
Jewelry designer Rémy Rotenier’s third DVD course is for advanced students.

New York--In his third DVD course, jewelry designer Rémy Rotenier of Rémy Design offers advanced instruction in jewelry rendering.
“Regardless of whether you’ll ultimately be designing with a CAD program, it’s still great to be able to professionally respond to your clients on the spot with freehand drawing,” he said. “When you sketch in real time, you gain a customer’s trust that you have skills as a jewelry artist.”
“Advanced Jewelry Design” teaches techniques for drawing complex ring designs, focusing on top, profile, and through-the-finger views.
The class also instructs students how to draw rings at 45-degree angles, and how to depict braided solitaires, channel-set solitaires and pavé cocktail ring styles.
Earring styles, including long and short dangles, posts and hoops, and bracelet styles, including chains and bangles, also are covered in the course.
Advanced Jewelry Design totals seven hours of classes on four DVDs. It’s available from Rio Grande and costs $249.
A fourth jewelry rendering DVD class is forthcoming from Rotenier, who gained expertise working as a staff designer at Tiffany & Co. in the 1990s.
He went on to work as the design director for jewelry company Kabana before designing for his own company, Rémy Designs.
