Piece of the Week: Andrea Fohrman’s Couture Pendant
The Couture Design Awards bring out the best from the show’s exhibitors.

New York--The beauty of the Couture Design Awards is that it pushes designers to create something they might never have made, giving them an excuse to embark on a piece that otherwise might have remained a sketch in a notebook.
Andrea Fohrman’s entry in the “Colored Gemstones, Above $20,000” category embodies her brand’s design signatures. It incorporates her use of moon, sun and rainbow motifs along with an enormous dose of color and gems.
The 18-karat yellow gold pendant features lapis lazuli inlaid with white diamonds to capture the night sky, turquoise enamel with yellow sapphire and blue star sapphire to represent the sun, and varying shades of enamel--plus opal and blue and pink sapphire--to create a rainbow, which was the theme of Fohrman’s booth at Couture.
Technically, the pendant was first runner-up at the Couture Design Awards, but it’s a winner in our book.
