Falcon, secret garden take flight for Roberto Coin
In Vicenza, the Italian designer added new animals, enlarged his black jade line and introduced the Garden Collection.
Joining the menagerie this year was a penguin pendant and a ram--a nod to the Chinese zodiac for 2015--while this year’s limited-edition introduction has wings.
It is “Falco,” the falcon, crafted in 18-karat rose gold and set with brown, white and black diamonds.
This marks the second year in a row that Coin has chosen a creature with much Middle Eastern appeal for his limited-edition Animalier introduction.
Used for centuries for hunting in the harsh desert climate, the falcon remains popular in the region. The limited-edition Falco follows last year’s introduction of the Arabian horse.
The bird of prey’s introduction at the Vicenzaoro January show seems fitting since show organizers are set on international expansion, particularly in the Middle East. Vicenzaoro is set to hold its first Dubai edition in April.
Other introductions from the iconic Italian designer included the Garden Collection, which reinterprets the “eternal charm of a secret garden,” a larger version of the black jade collection and a Pois Moi pendant for Valentine’s Day.
