Patek Philippes top Antiquorum’s HK sale
A platinum Patek Philippe Ref. 3979 wristwatch sold for about $468,000 at Antiquorum’s sale of Important Modern and Vintage Timepieces on Saturday, the top lot of an auction heavy with examples from the famed watchmaker.

The minute-repeating watch, which features an enamel dial, sold to an Asian phone bidder.
Overall, Antiquorum’s 532-lot sale on June 28 totaled about $6.5 million, with 114 percent sold by value.
Pieces by Patek Philippe realized the highest prices, namely the Ref. 5029 and Ref. 2438-1, which were the second- and third-highest grossing lots of the sale, respectively. Wristwatches from Girard Perregaux and Harry Winston also garnered high bids, especially pieces made in the 2000s.
In addition, Antiquorum said rare pocket watches and clocks in exceptional condition and made for the Chinese market “continue to galvanize collectors worldwide,” including a Franck Muller Ref. 98 that sold for more than $125,000.
“We are proud to continue to offer great examples of the most sought-after timepieces at auction,” Antiquorum President and CEO Evan Zimmermann said. “Collectors in the room and on the Internet aggressively bid on modern timepieces offered in the auction.”
