Alrosa Appoints New Deputy CEO
The diamond miner tapped Evgeny Agureev for the role.
Moscow—Alrosa has appointed one of its own to fill the position of deputy CEO, sales head Evgeny Agureev.
Since 2017, Agureev has been a director of the company’s United Selling Organization, the arm of Alrosa that deals with rough diamonds, from the sorting and preliminary valuation phases to final sales.
His appointment comes at a time when both Alrosa and rival De Beers are grappling with a significant slump in rough diamond sales.
Commenting on Agureev’s appointment, CEO Sergey Ivanov said: “Given the difficult conditions in the global diamond market today, Evgeny will continue to improve the efficiency of the entire supply chain of the company and look for new approaches to stimulating rough diamond sales, as well as to increase the level of interaction with the company’s customers and expand the customer base.”
Agureev has more than 15 years of professional expertise in commercial bank financial management.
Prior to joining Alrosa, he worked for eight years at Sberbank holding various roles, including head of international reporting to the vice president, and director of the finance department.
In 2016, Agureev finished London Business School’s and Sberbank Corporate University’s executive development program.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with specialties in accounting, analysis and audit and a master’s degree in financial management from Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Upon joining Alrosa, he also became a member of its executive committee.
