Rio Tinto Names New President for Diavik
Mining industry executive Patrick Boitumelo will move into the role of president and COO of Diavik at the end of July.

Melbourne, Australia--Rio Tinto announced that it has appointed Patrick Boitumelo as the president and COO of Diavik Diamond Mines.
He succeeds Marc Cameron, who now is heading up Rio Tinto’s Kennecott Utah Copper mine, the company confirmed.
Boitumelo will relocate to from Salt Lake City, Utah to Yellowknife, in Canada’s Northwest Territories for the job and will start at the end of July.
He joins the company with extensive operational, stakeholder management and corporate strategy experience across a number of businesses in the mining industry.
Boitumelo most recently served as the general manager of engineering and projects at Kennecott Utah Copper.
“Patrick brings a wealth of experience to Diavik at an important time in its development, as we work towards safely bringing the A21 production on stream, alongside our existing underground mining operations,” said Nigel Steward, managing director of operations for Rio Tinto Copper & Diamonds.
