Kiran Gems Opens New Diamond Polishing Plant

Mumbai--Kiran Gems Private Ltd. has opened a new diamond polishing facility in Surat, India as part of the company’s planned strategy to streamline its manufacturing process for larger diamonds, the company said.
It is 500,000 square feet in size and will use state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment for planning, cutting and polishing diamonds.
Kiran Gems said that it processes more than 5.5 million carats of rough diamonds to meet the demands of its global customers and that this new factory will play a critical role in cutting down the processing time for rough diamonds significantly, strengthening the company’s inventory of certified diamonds as well as enabling the Kiran sales team to respond to customer demand more efficiently.
“Kiran has a long-term view and strategy for the diamond industry and this factory is a part of it,” said Kiran Chairman Vallabhbhai Patel. “In the past also we have continued upgrading, and we will continue doing it in the future. It is instrumental to provide excellent quality of diamonds and observe cost optimization in order to create a sustainable business. This factory is designed to fulfill that.”
