Synthetic diamond co. grows record-setting stone

New York--The company formerly known as Gemesis has created what it says is the largest diamond ever grown in a lab, a 3-carat round brilliant that is K color and SI1 clarity.
Previous lab-grown diamond records set by the company, which is now called Pure Grown Diamonds, include a 1.29-carat E color, VVS2 emerald-cut diamond, followed by a 1.78-carat G color, SI1 clarity princess-cut diamond last November.
“We are ecstatic to once again celebrate technology and innovation in grown diamonds. It is very gratifying to break our own records and reach the 3-carat milestone,” said President and CEO Lisa Bissell, who was just named to the position in June but has spent years in the diamond industry, including 19 with wholesaler M. Fabrikant & Sons.

Following Bissell’s appointment, Gemesis rebranded as Pure Grown Diamonds, and is reinforcing its commitment to disclosure and transparency, the company said.
The effort will include the introduction of new products and collections, a concentrated effort on education for sales personnel and consumers, and an improved customer experience on the company’s website and social media platforms.
