Milan, Italy--The annual congress of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, will take place May 19 to 21 in Moscow, the organization announced last week.
Prior to the start of the event, CIBJO will hold pre-congress meetings on May 17 and 18.
The host of the 2014 congress is the Russian Jewellers’ Guild, and the main venue for the meeting is the 19th century Hotel Metropol. The Metropol is located in the historic section of Moscow, within walking distance to the Kremlin, Red Square and the Bolshoi theater.
Sessions during the two final days of the event will take place at the Estet Jewellery House.
“Russia represents the length and breadth of our industry, with massive supplies of raw minerals, diamonds and colored gemstones, a fast-developing jewelry industry, and one of the world’s most exciting jewelry markets. The congress will provide an invaluable opportunity to explore the new frontiers it offers our business, and also to visit this fascinating city and country,” CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri said.
CIBJO’s annual congresses serve as the official venue for the meeting of the CIBJO assembly of delegates, gathering members of national jewelry and gemstone associations from more than 40 countries, as well as representatives from many of the industry’s most important commercial bodies.
It also is a forum for CIBJO’s professional commissions, and the venue at which the Diamond, Coloured Stones, Pearl, Precious Metals and Gemmological Blue Books are discussed and updated.
The organization said it plans to launch a dedicated website for its congress in the coming weeks. The site will provide updated information about the event and allow for online registration and hotel room bookings.
