1. Pandora CEO Out After Company Cuts Forecast
The news capped off a week in which the Danish bead and jewelry company announced job cuts, lowered its yearly sales forecast and reported disappointing second quarter results.
2. Samuels Jewelers Files for Bankruptcy
The multibillion-dollar Indian bank fraud scandal allegedly perpetrated by Samuels owner Mehul Choksi, among others, “amplified the headwinds” already pounding the retailer.
3. Gemfields’ Ethiopia Exploration Site Looted
The ransacking of the sort house followed an invasion of the emerald mine in late June, when as many as 500 people stormed the property.
4. Mouawad Buys Biggest ‘Dynasty’ Diamond
The 51.38-carat stone was one of five diamonds cut from a 179-carat piece of rough mined by Alrosa in Russia.
