Fuli Gemstones Unveils New Peridot Cut
The ‘Fuli Cut’ is based on an antique cushion.

Based on an antique cushion, the new “Fuli Cut” has 65 facets instead of the usual 58. It’s cut on the cross, which the miner said reveals the stones’ “distinctive vivid green color and incredible liveliness.”
Long the birthstone for the month of August, peridot is a yellowish-green variety of the mineral olivine that measures 7.2 on the Mohs hardness scale.
The Fuli mine is located in northeastern China, near the Changbai Mountains.
Peridot from the mine have a light, bright green hue due to a lower content of iron, which is responsible for peridot’s color intensity.
Peridot has unique properties that were considered when developing the Fuli cut, the company said.
The green gem contains pleochroism, a phenomenon where a gemstone displays different colors when viewed from different angles.
It also possesses high birefringence, a property that causes light that enters the stone to split into two rays, giving the illusion of doubled facets.
“The new ‘Fuli Cut’ is a progressive and innovative take on a classic,” the company said.
