Piece of the Week: Summertime Studs
For summer 2023, Alison Lou is reshaping its popular “Jelly Hoop” earrings into statement studs.

In summer 2018, the designer behind fine jewelry brand Alison Lou introduced earrings that National Jeweler Senior Editor Ashley Davis predicted would be “the hit of the summer”—the “Jelly Hoops.”
Created using lucite and enamel and available in multiple sizes and colors, the hoops were the start of “Loucite by Alison Lou,” a lower-priced line launched to make Alison Lou accessible to more consumers.
Fast-forward five summers and the Jelly line lives on, still appealing to consumers’ demand for jewelry that is affordable, colorful and evokes a sense of nostalgia, a trend that is perhaps even more prevalent post-pandemic.
Now, Alison Lou is expanding the collection with the introduction of “Jelly Button” stud earrings, which are anything but button sized.
Designed to take wearers “from day to night,” the sizable studs are available in a rectangle shape in either blue (azure) or green (cyprus), or heart-shaped in pink (petal) or a turquoise blue (lagoon).
They feature lucite surrounded by matching enamel with brass-plated 14-karat yellow gold framing, posts and backs.
The Jelly Button stud earrings retail for $115 and are available now on the Alison Lou website.
