Police Arrest Suspect in Brooklyn Jewelry Store Robbery
The alleged gunman has been charged with attempted murder, robbery and gun possession.

Joseph Gonzalez, 45, of Brooklyn, was charged with attempted murder, robbery and gun possession, according to a New York Daily News story.
Gonzalez is suspected of being the gunman who entered A&M Jewelry, located in the borough’s Sunset Park neighborhood, on the afternoon of Feb. 5.
He allegedly stood in the store’s open doorway with a gun in his hand and demanded the jewelry be handed over.
Surveillance video captured the suspect firing the gun, hitting a 24-year-old employee in the torso.
When one of the bullets ricocheted in his direction, Gonzalez allegedly fled without taking anything.
The bullet only grazed the employee, according to the New York Police Department, and the individual was brought to nearby NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. The employee has since been released.
Gonzalez was previously charged with attempted murder in January 2022, accused of shooting a 20-year-old man in the shoulder just blocks from the jewelry store, said the Daily News. His prior arrests date back to 1992.
The violent incident is one of several recent robberies in Brooklyn, including the robbery of Melissa Joy Manning’s boutique in Cobble Hill, a smash-and-grab robbery at Facets in Park Slope, and another robbery at Roxy Jewelry in the Prospect Lefferts Garden neighborhood.
There is a possibility the man who robbed Melissa Joy Manning’s store has struck elsewhere. The NYPD has escalated the case to its high-profile crime unit, investigating the man as a serial burglar.
Anyone with information in regard to any of these robberies may call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
