Brooklyn Jewelry Store Employee Shot in Attempted Robbery
The violent incident is one of several recent robberies in the borough and the NYPD is investigating the possibility of a serial burglar.
The NYPD is on the lookout for this individual after the attempted armed robbery of a jewelry store in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood on Feb. 5 that left an employee wounded.
Brooklyn, N.Y.—Police are on the lookout for the gunman who shot a jewelry store employee during an attempted robbery in Brooklyn, New York on Feb. 5.
According to the NYPD, the masked suspect entered A&M Jewelry, located in the Sunset Park neighborhood, on that Sunday afternoon.
He stood in the open doorway with a gun in his hand, as per the Jewelers’ Security Alliance, and demanded the jewelry be handed over.
Surveillance video captured the man firing the gun, shooting a 24-year-old employee in the torso.
According to the NYPD, the masked suspect entered A&M Jewelry, located in the Sunset Park neighborhood, on that Sunday afternoon.
He stood in the open doorway with a gun in his hand, as per the Jewelers’ Security Alliance, and demanded the jewelry be handed over.

When one of the shooter’s bullets ricocheted in his own direction, he fled without taking anything.
The bullet only grazed the employee, according to the NYPD, and the individual was brought to nearby NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in stable condition.
The violent incident is one of several recent robberies in Brooklyn.
On Feb. 2, a masked man robbed Melissa Joy Manning’s boutique in Brooklyn’s Cobble Hill neighborhood, holding an employee at knifepoint.
JSA and the NYPD did not respond to a request for comment on whether these two robberies were related.
Manning, however, stated she believed the same suspect who held up her store was responsible for other New York City jewelry store robberies, including Macha in Greenpoint, Brooklyn a few weeks prior.
She also believes he is the man who allegedly assaulted two employees at the Jill Platner jewelry store in Manhattan when they became suspicious of his behavior.
The NYPD agreed with Manning’s claims and said it has escalated the case to its high-profile crime unit, investigating the man as a serial burglar.

There were two other notable Brooklyn jewelry store robberies around the new year.
On Jan. 8, three masked thieves stole more than $2 million worth of jewelry during a smash-and-grab robbery at Facets in the Park Slope neighborhood.
About a week before that on Dec. 30, a violent robbery occurred at Roxy Jewelry in the Prospect Lefferts Garden neighborhood.
The store’s 79-year-old owner was brutally beaten by the two suspects and later hospitalized. The jewelry stolen was valued by the NYPD at more than $100,000.
JSA has offered a reward for any information related to the Dec. 30 robbery.
