Plus, the company’s founder received an honorary degree from one of the country’s top art schools.

Paris—David Yurman recently opened the doors of its first international flagship store, in the city that inspired its “Starburst” and “Midnight Mélange” collections.

The store is located in Paris at 245 Rue St Honoré, in the city center near Place Vendôme, long known for its upscale fine jewelry and fashion boutiques.

It is the brand’s 48th company-owned and -operated store and one of 10 located outside the United States.

The Paris location pays homage to the brand’s artistic roots, starting at the front door.

The bronzed gates at the entrance were inspired by founder David Yurman’s direct-welded sculptures and forged by a French artist named Bryan Parlati, who works in his foundry west of Lyon, France.

The gates echo the herringbone pattern found on the store’s ceiling and its floors, which are made of dark Pietra Cardosa stone and pale Bardiglio Trambi marble.

Inside, the store’s furniture is mid-century modern, and its vitrines are custom, handcrafted in travertine and oak.

Men’s jewelry is displayed at the front of the store, putting it on equal footing with the women’s collections.

There is a private lounge where guests can view David Yurman’s high jewelry and one-of-a-kind pieces, and it is separated from the main store by a courtyard.

The store, the company said, is a continuation of President and Chief Creative Officer Evan Yurman’s vision for the brand’s future.

Like the David Yurman flagship store on 57th Street in New York, the Paris flagship has an elegant, modern interior that celebrates the brand’s aesthetic while reflecting the cultural nuances of the City of Light.

“Paris, like New York, is a city defined by art and artists,” the brand said. “It’s an endless source of inspiration for us—we feel connected to the city’s history, its people, its art. Many of our collections have been inspired by memorable moments spent in Paris.”

In addition to the opening of the brand’s Paris flagship on May 18, company founder David Yurman recently received an honorary degree from one of the U.S.’s most prestigious art schools.

The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) presented Yurman with one of two honorary degrees at its 2022 commencement ceremonies, held in early June. (Grammy-winning songwriter, producer and composer Christopher Alan “Tricky” Stewart received the other.)

SCAD described Yurman as a “visionary artist” with a lifelong love for design and innovation who, alongside wife Sybil Yurman, created America’s “foremost luxury jewelry brand.”

Based in Savannah, Georgia with campuses in Atlanta and Lacoste, France, SCAD consistently ranks as one of the top art schools in the country across numerous disciplines, including interior design, fashion, animation and film.
