Piece of the Week: Alex Lozier’s Pendant for Ukraine
Proceeds will be donated to the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America.

The bravery of the Ukrainian people in the face of war, from the country’s leader down to its civilians, driven by a deep love of their country, has been especially touching to witness.
Jewelry designer Alex Lozier shares that love, tied to the country by her Ukrainian heritage, and felt the dread of history repeating itself as she watched events unfold from the U.S.
“My heart has been heavy with waves of grief as I witness the traumatic wounds of our people being ripped open yet again,” Lozier said in a statement.
Her mother, Krystyna Lozier, is Ukrainian and immigrated with her family to the U.S. as a child.
“The hardest part about the events unfolding in Ukraine right now is that it is like watching what happened to our grandparents in real time. History is repeating itself. Once again, Ukrainians flee our land to Poland while others stay behind to fight,” she said.
Lozier reflected on the struggles of her “baba,” a term for grandmother in many Slavic languages, through World War II and thought of those reliving the same cycle of war and bloodshed her grandmother experienced.
“When I was making the piece, her spirit was with me,” Lozier said.
Lozier channeled her grief into a Ukrainian Tryzub talisman pendant, looking to honor her family heritage and raise money to donate to Ukraine.
The Tryzub is shaped like a trident and is on the Ukrainian coat of arms.
Lozier’s unisex pendant is made of sterling silver and is available in either a high-polished finish or a black oxidized finish, the latter being Lozier’s favorite.
“This pendant is designed as a prayer for peace in Ukraine. It is a symbol of the inner warrior of the people in Ukraine right now standing up to defend their home, their culture, and everything they love.”
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America.
Lozier was introduced to the group by her aunt, Roksolana Misilo, who was an active member and traveled to Ukraine the last time Russia invaded to help Ukrainian soldiers and their families.
The pendants retail for $280, with $100 going to charity, and are available for pre-order on her website.
