Piece of the Week: Made by Malyia’s Plunging Ocean Wave Hoops
Combining thoughtful design and wearability, they were a standout of 2021.

This week’s “Piece of the Week” pick is one of those highlights.
Made by Maylia’s “Plunging Ocean Wave Hoops” ($11,199) made their debut at a press preview hosted by the Natural Diamond Council this summer.
Meant to represent the power and movement of a crashing wave, the earrings combine 0.89 carats of inlaid diamonds in graduating sizes and 18-karat gold in a design that finds the perfect combination of luxury and artistry with wearability.
It’s no surprise, given the designer behind them; Malyia McNaughton’s vision has drawn plenty of attention.
In fact, it’s her jewelry that’s sharing screen time with actress Ana de Armas in the latest iteration of the Natural Diamond Council’s “For Moments Like No Other” ad campaign. She custom designed the 11-piece diamond collection for the occasion.
