Samuel B Has Now Donated More Than 1M Meals to Feeding America
The company donates 10 meals to the nonprofit for every piece of jewelry it sells.
Great Neck, New York—Many families in need will be thankful for Samuel B.’s efforts this holidays season.
The Great Neck, New York-based jewelry company recently announced that it has donated more than one million meals to Feeding America, a nonprofit it has been supporting since the early days of the pandemic.
Before COVID-19 forced lockdowns worldwide, Samuel B. was planning on opening a school in Bali, where it makes its jewelry. The pandemic put those plans on pause.
During lockdown, a food bank opened at an elementary school in the Brooklyn, New York neighborhood where Samuel B. Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mathew Behnam lives.
It was at that moment that Mathew realized the need to provide food to families, the company said.
Samuel B. reached out to Feeding America and became a partner, agreeing to donate 10 meals for every piece of jewelry sold to its network of independent retailers.
The initiative launched in May 2020, with the company providing its retailers with signage explaining the partnership and, thereby, what they are supporting in buying a piece of Samuel B. jewelry.
As of Nov. 17, the exact number of meals donated through Samuel B.’s initiative was 1,046,520.
“We stand together with Feeding America alongside our retail partners, proud that, to date, over one million meals have been provided to help people in need,” Mathew said.
“Our company continues to donate 10 meals for every piece of jewelry purchased and remains committed to the largest domestic hunger relief organization.”
Feeding America works through a network of more than 200 food banks, 21 statewide food bank associations and more than 60,000 partner agencies, food pantries and meal programs to feed people in need.
In 2020, the nonprofit provided more than six billion meals.
