Via YouTube, ASA Advises Consumers to Visit Accredited Appraisers
In a new video posted to the popular site, ASA appraisers tout the importance of hiring a qualified expert.

Posted on its YouTube channel, the three-minute video features testimony by four ASA members who hold the title of accredited senior appraiser: Claire A. Peña, Kennon E. Young, Theresa Brossmer, and Thom Underwood.
In the video, titled “When Value Matters,” the appraisers delve into how qualified gem and jewelry appraisers determine valuations and ASA’s standards and ethics.
“Hiring a qualified expert is critical. Accurate and unbiased value conclusions are paramount and provide consumers with a necessary and deserved peace of mind,” Mark T. Cartwright, past chair of ASA’s Gems & Jewelry Discipline Committee, said in a press release about the campaign.
(Cartwright joined National Jeweler as a webinar guest in June to discuss the ins and outs of jewelry appraisals.)
The video also includes information on how consumers can locate and connect with appraisers through ASA’s “Find an Appraiser” online search tool.
“Protecting and fostering the public trust of our members and the appraisal profession is fundamental to our society’s mission,” said ASA CEO Johnnie White.
