Fura Gems Schedules Inaugural Australian Sapphire Auction
The event will be held from Nov. 15-19 in Bangkok featuring large quantities of high- to medium-grade sapphires.
For the first time, Fura Gems will sell the sapphires it mines in Queensland, Australia, at a tender event in Bangkok.
Dubai—Fura Gems is ready to sell its Australian sapphires at auction.
The colored stone mining company has announced its inaugural tender for the gems will be an in-person event—clients will be given fixed appointments to see the goods and bid on them—held from Nov. 15-19 in Bangkok.
The sale will feature large quantities of high- to medium-grade sapphires in blue, blue-green, green, and parti color.
All stones in the auction will be untreated, Fura confirmed, and all lots will be graded ahead of the auction.
Fura said it expects buyer participation to come primarily from Thailand, Sri Lanka, China, and India.

Fura acquired Australian mining company Capricorn Sapphire in late 2019, followed by the purchase of Great Northern Mining last year, both of which held sapphire mining licenses in Queensland.
This year, it launched the Fura Marketing Council, a member-based program to help promote color and grow the sector. The team officially debuted it at the Las Vegas trade shows.
