From Basel: 6 New Watches from Omega
The Swatch Group owned-brand released a new Speedmaster moon watch and is marking two Seamaster milestones.

Basel--Omega released a new Speedmaster moon watch and marked two Seamaster milestones at Baselworld 2018.
The Swatch Group-owned brand released the latest Speedmaster in its “Dark Side of the Moon” series in honor of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 8, which took place in December 1968.
Apollo 8 was the second manned flight in the U.S.’s Apollo space program and included a number of firsts, including making its three-men crew the first humans to ever see the side of the moon that faces away from Earth, known as the far side or the dark side.
In the new Dark Side watch, Omega skeletonized and used a laser on the dial, as well as the movement’s bridges and main plate, to mimic the moon’s craggy surface.
The dial also is lighter in color than the movement, which Omega said was done to represent the two sides of the moon, the light side and the dark side. 
The Apollo 8 anniversary edition of the Omega’s moon watch is powered by the caliber 1861 (called the 1869 as a nod to the first moon landing in 1969) and retails for $9,750.

One of the models in the Trésor collection, which launched in the United States in December and is fronted by Kaia Gerber, the daughter of Cindy Crawford. The watches are all quartz and available in 39 and 36 mm. The starting retail price is $5,100.
The 38 mm Seamaster 1948 Central Seconds (about $5,963) comes on a blue-gray leather strap and is powered by the Master Chronometer 8806. Both have the vintage Omega logo on the crown and buckle. They are limited to 1,948 pieces each.
Omega also introduced a limited-edition version of the new Seamaster Professional Diver 300 in titanium and tantalum that retails for $13,000.

The Seamaster Professional Diver 300 got a makeover for its 25th anniversary. The 14 new models are all bigger at 42 mm, have a ceramic diving bezel with the scale in Ceragold or white enamel and a polished ceramic dial, reshaped hands and the date window at 6 o’clock.
In addition, Omega brought back the wavy pattern that was part of the original design. The Seamaster Professional Diver 300 is available on a metal bracelet or rubber strap (pictured above, in blue) and retails for $4,850.

This year marks another Seamaster anniversary: it has been 70 years since the line was first introduced. To mark it, Omega introduced a set of twins, a vintage-looking pair inspired by the first Seamaster watches, which Omega began producing in 1948 following World War II.
