Gem Diamonds Finds Twelfth Stone of 100+ Carats This Year
The 138-carat Type IIa diamond of “top white color” came from the Letšeng mine in Lesotho.

London—Gem Diamonds has found yet another big stone.
The diamond miner announced Wednesday the recovery of a 138-carat Type IIa diamond of “top white color” from the Letšeng mine in Lesotho, which the company says is the highest dollar-per-carat kimberlite diamond mine in the world.
The discovery marks the 12th diamond weighing more than 100 carats to be uncovered by Gem Diamonds this year, a new record for the company.
Other 100-plus carat discoveries in 2018 include an exceptional quality 910-carat, D color Type IIa diamond in January, a 169-carat diamond of “top white color” in March and a 100.5-carat Type IIa diamond from Letšeng earlier this month.
