Jewelers for Children Brings Back Live Events in Vegas, Dallas
There will also be a virtual component for those not in attendance.
Coinciding with the Couture Show (Aug. 24-26) and JCK Las Vegas (Aug. 27-30), JFC will host its annual Rings of Strength event in Las Vegas.
On Thursday, Aug. 26 at 5:30 a.m., participants are invited to run or walk five kilometers to raise money for Jewelers for Children. The starting point is outside of the Venetian Resort Hotel.
There will also be a biking option, with participants biking in Red Rock Canyon.
Money raised via participants’ fundraising websites will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Make-A-Wish America, and the National CASA Association.
Since it was founded in 1999, JFC has raised $57 million for these organizations through the generous help of the jewelry industry.
Those interested in participating in the Rings of Strength event will have a second opportunity to do so in person.
Another Rings of Strength 5k run and walk will take place the opening day of AGS Conclave in Dallas, on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 a.m, starting at the Sheraton Dallas Downtown.
For those unable to attend the Las Vegas and Dallas events, like last year, there is also a virtual way to participate.
Anyone can participate virtually any time now through September 15, with the option to run, walk, bicycle, or even just mow their lawns. Everyone is welcome, even if they don’t complete the entire five kilometers.
If desired, virtual participants can even link fitness trackers and smart watches to share their progress online as they race.
JFC Board Chair Debra Puzio said, “Rings of Strength is one of our largest and most popular events. We weren’t able to hold in-person events last year and it’s exciting to bring them back to two locations this year.
“The virtual event held last year proved very popular and we’re thrilled to be able to offer it as an option for those who may not be attending market week in Las Vegas or have other commitments at that time. This year presents an opportunity that fits into everyone’s schedule.”
