Maryland Retailer Brings 3 Student Designs to Life for Mother’s Day
The annual contest from Zachary’s Jewelers received submissions from 113 fifth graders this year.

Every year, the jeweler holds its annual Mother’s Day jewelry design contest for fifth grade students in the Annapolis area.
Since it started the competition in 2011, the store has received more than 1,500 design submissions.
This year, it selected the three winners from 113 students across seven schools.
Votes via a Facebook poll chose Maggie Lowe of Jones Elementary as the People’s Choice winner, and designs by Thleya Cooper of Broadneck Elementary and Lucy Morrison of Benfield Elementary were selected by a team of experts at Zachary’s Jewelers.
The store’s master jewelers brought the winning designs to life in precious materials and presented them to the winners at a recent brunch awards ceremony at the Zachary’s store in downtown Annapolis.
Zachary’s Jewelers has been serving customers for more than 25 years. In addition to its downtown Annapolis location, there is also a Zachary’s location in Severna Park, Maryland.
