2 Brothers Arrested in Murder of Miss. Jeweler
The men were taken into custody Tuesday in connection with the April 23 shooting death of Paul’s Jewelry co-owner Jamie Iverson.
Daquarius Wright (whose first name also appears as Daqarius in news reports), 20, and Kenterius Wright, 19, were taken into custody by authorities Tuesday in the Jackson, Mississippi metro area and booked into the Sunflower County Jail on Wednesday afternoon, according to The Clarksdale Press Register.
The Press Register reported Wednesday that there may be more arrests in the case.
Neither man has been formally charged, though they were set to have their initial court appearance Thursday.
The shooting happened the morning of April 23 at Paul’s Jewelry on Front Street in Indianola.
Jamie Iverson, who owned and operated the store with her husband, Rodney Iverson, was working alone that morning when the suspects entered the store.
She was shot during an apparent attempted robbery and later died at a hospital in Jackson.
Iverson, 67, was a Mississippi native and University of Mississippi alumna.
She and Rodney were married for nearly 43 years and owned Paul’s Jewelry together for decades.
Iverson is the first jewelry industry employee killed on the job in 2021, Jewelers’ Security Alliance President John J. Kennedy confirmed.
Two people were killed last year, and none in 2019.
