New York--The industry is coming together to help the family of Cindy Edelstein with a college crowdfunding effort for her daughter led by designer Erica Courtney.
The 51-year-old Edelstein, a well-known jewelry consultant, author and editor known for promoting and supporting up-and-coming designers, died suddenly on Sunday.
Soon after, Courtney, one of the many designers whose life Edelstein touched along the way, launched a crowdfunding effort on YouCaring.org to help raise money for the college education of Edelstein’s daughter, Remy Sasha Stankus. Visit the page for Remy here.
“If you knew Cindy Edelstein--or even just knew about her--then you knew she was a fierce advocate for jewelry designers … But that passion and advocacy paled in comparison to her raising of her own daughter, Remy. Cindy had absolutely no intention of leaving that role so soon, so it’s up to all of us who respected and loved her to help continue her work. It’s the best possible way to honor Cindy’s legacy,” the page states.
Donations can be made anonymously.
Services for Edelstein took place Tuesday in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. The family is sitting shiva today (Jan. 27) at the home of Frank and Remy Sasha Stankus in Pelham Manor, N.Y. from 2 to 6 p.m.
