Jewelers Mutual launches ‘smart’ jewelry coverage
The coverage will protect against accidental loss, theft, damage or the mysterious disappearance of pieces of smart jewelry, including the Apple Watch.

Neenah, Wis.--Smart jewelry now is included in the scope of pieces covered by Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, with the policy providing repair and replacement coverage.
“We continuously monitor and adapt to our customers’ needs, and providing coverage for smart jewelry is a great example of our quick response,” said Jewelers Mutual President and CEO Scott Murphy. “It is important that we continue to evolve with the emerging lifestyle trends and innovations, just like our members.”
The company said it covers various brands and styles of smart jewelry, such as products by Apple, Bulgari, Cuff, Fredrique Constant, Mica by Intel, Ringly, Swarovski and Tag Heuer, among others.
What Jewelers Mutual will offer when it comes to smart jewelry includes protection against accidental loss, theft, damage and mysterious disappearance. What isn’t covered is damage to personalized data or customized software, or loss or damage due to a virus, programming errors or technological obsolescence.
“Basically, we cover the entire physical object, but not the data that it houses,” the company stated on its blog, The Jewelry Box.
