Former InStyle editor embarks on The Adventurine

After 19 years as the contributing editor of fine jewelry and watches at InStyle magazine, Marion Fasel is venturing out on her own with an online magazine and consulting company, joined by longtime colleague Lisa Jordon Helms.

New York--Marion Fasel is no longer with InStyle, though the longtime jewelry editor and author is hardly out of fashion.

Fasel officially announced this week that she is launching The Adventurine, an online-only publication and advisory services firm for the fine jewelry industry. The name is a play on the beautiful green gemstone aventurine and the word adventure, which is how Fasel likes to relay her experiences with watches and jewelry--as adventures.

Joining Fasel in her new venture is longtime colleague Lisa Jordon Helms, who was an associate publisher at both Vogue and InStyle, where she spent more than a decade working alongside Fasel and led the brand to No. 1 market share. 

Slated to launch in the fall, The Adventurine will be a digital magazine featuring interviews, historical articles, trend pieces, products launches and photos of both classic pieces of jewelry as well as new collections.

Fasel, who has been writing about jewelry for more than two decades and was with InStyle from 1996 to 2015, will be the publication’s editorial director. The New York-based writer has authored a total of eight books in her time, including Hollywood Jewels, Bejeweled, With This Ring and the trilogy collection for Bulgari: Serpenti, Bulgari-Bulgari and Monete.

Meanwhile, The Adventurine Advisory Services will specialize in brand development, branded content programs and social media platforms for fine jewelry and watch companies.

Helms, The Adventurine’s senior vice president of business development and client services, will spearhead the advisory services portion of company. Fasel, who has been a consultant on projects with Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels and Verdura, also will be involved in the advisory arm of the business.

Michelle Graffis the editor-in-chief at National Jeweler, directing the publication’s coverage both online and in print.
