WJA now accepting entries for Carelle grant
The Women’s Jewelry Association is inviting members to apply for a $5,000 merit-based grant that can help them get their business off the ground and stimulate growth.
New York--The Women’s Jewelry Association is inviting members to apply for a $5,000 merit-based grant that can help them get their business off the ground and stimulate growth.
The 2014 Carelle-WJA Member Grant in honor of Brooke Tivol McGrath is open to WJA members who are in their first five years of business.
The deadline to apply for the grant is March 1.
Applicants are required to submit an essay explaining why they deserve the award, with judging emphasis placed on personal dedication and determination as well as attitude.
Brooke Tivol McGrath grew up in the jewelry industry as a member of the Tivol family of Kansas City, Mo.
In 2007 she joined Carelle under the guidance of co-founder and designer Chana Regev and became a driving force behind the launch of the brand. McGrath also became a member of the WJA.
On Jan. 11, 2011, at the age of 28, McGrath died unexpectedly from a rare blood infection.
In her honor, Carelle partnered with the WJA to offer a business grant for its members.
