New York--The Jewelry Information Center is offering a sizeable prize for the winner of its fifth annual Ultimate Proposal Contest: $5,000 worth of platinum jewelry from any Jewelers of America retail member.
The contest, which launched last Monday, is aimed at those who have received or given a platinum engagement ring, and asks them to share their proposal story with the JIC, with a photo or video and description of the ring.
Submission will be accepted until July 7. From then until Aug. 14, the public will be able to vote on the entries on the JIC website. The 10 entries that receive the most votes will be considered finalists, and will move onto the final judging round, with the grand-prize winner announced Aug. 21.
To coincide with the launch of the contest, the JIC conducted a satellite television tour on Wednesday that featured trends in platinum engagement rings, wedding bands and wedding day jewelry, and featured designs from Gabriel & Co., Gumuchian, Leo Ingwer, Rina Limor and Stuller.
The contest, the JIC said, drives awareness of JA member stores and “excites consumers about the meaning behind their engagement rings.”
The JIC will provide JA members with national promotion, email templates and social media materials to promote the contest to their customers.
“The Ultimate Proposal Contest … generates a lot of media exposure and consumer awareness of JA members and the jewelry industry as a whole,” said Amanda Gizzi, director of public relations and special events at the JIC. “Since the engagement ring is the cornerstone of the engagement story, this contest is a fun way to build excitement and awareness of our JA members as the destination for future jewelry purchases.”
