Judith Ripka inks wholesale deal with KGK Group

The licensing agreement was extended by Xcel Brands Inc., the New York-based brand management company that acquired Judith Ripka earlier this year for approximately $22.5 million.

Under the agreement, Hong Kong-based KGK will distribute Judith Ripka globally to luxury retailers, high-end department stores and specialty fine jewelers.
The deal does not include the brand’s QVC line, which also is handled by Xcel.
KGK Jewellery Manufacturing is owned by the KGK Group, a De Beers sightholder in the business of sourcing, manufacturing and distributing colored gemstones, diamonds and jewelry.
The company said on Monday that it currently is undergoing a vertical integration, “getting closer to consumers with our retail ventures and closer to our supply chain by acquiring mines.”
“I am pleased to join forces with a company that is not only one of the largest De Beers sightholders, but which also has access to the highest quality colored gem stones,” said Judith Ripka, who now serves as chief design officer of her eponymous brand. “I look forward to designing jewelry, which will continue to be made by the best craftsmen, using the finest materials and workmanship that my customers have come to expect.”
Judith Ripka founded her brand in 1977 and since has been recognized for her achievements, having been honored with The Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World and De Beers’ Award for Outstanding Jewelry Design.
