Batson to receive WJA Lifetime Achievement Award

New York--Ruth Batson, Mark Light and the Richline Group will be inducted into the Women’s Jewelry Association’s Hall of Fame this year and will be honored at the organization’s annual Awards for Excellence gala in New York on July 28.
Ruth Batson, executive director and CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories, will receive the WJA’s Lifetime Achievement Award, which commemorates outstanding women whose work greatly contributes to the success of the jewelry industry at large.
Sterling Jewelers Inc. President and CEO Mark Light will be recognized with the Ben Kaiser Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring men who have demonstrated a deep lifetime commitment to the advancement of women in the industry.
The Richline Group, a Berkshire Hathaway Inc. company, will receive the WJA’s Corporate Award, which honors prestigious organizations that have demonstrated ongoing and outstanding support of women in the industry.
In addition, the WJA is asking its members to submit nominees for the other Awards for Excellence categories.
They are: Design; Fine Jewelry & Watches; Manufacturer, Dealer or Supplier of Fine Jewelry, Gemstones, Metals or Watches; Retail, 15 Doors or More; Retail, Fewer than 15 Doors; Retail, Non-traditional; Sales/Merchandising; Marketing/Communications; Media; and Special Services.

The deadline for nominations is Friday.
The 2014 WJA Awards for Excellence gala will be held at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers in New York. Information on sponsorship opportunities can be found on the WJA website.
