GJEPC honors India’s finest in Mumbai
Kiran Gems, Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK Exports) and Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. were among the big winners at the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s (GJEPC) 40th annual India Gem & Jewellery Awards.

Mumbai--Kiran Gems, Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK Exports) and Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. were among the big winners at the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s (GJEPC) 40th annual India Gem & Jewellery Awards.
The awards, presented Oct. 5 at the Jamshedji Bhabha Theatre, NCPA in Mumbai, honor companies and individuals for their contributions to and innovations in the country’s gems and jewelry industry. Theater and cinema actor Boman Irani served as the emcee for the event.
More than two dozen awards were presented during the course of the evening, including awards for companies that deal in large cut and polished diamonds, the best exporter of the year award and honors for most innovative and most socially responsible.
Kiran Gems Pvt. Ltd. took home first-place honors in the cut and polished diamonds-large category while SRK Exports took third place. Dharmanandan Diamonds Pvt. Ltd. came in second place for cut and polished diamonds-large and also won the award for most socially responsible company.
Hari Krishna won for most innovative company and H.K. Designs (India) was the emerging performer of the year, while SRK nabbed the award for best exporter of the year.
In the special award categories, Bharati D. Shah from B.R. Designs was the best woman entrepreneur and Rajendra A. Shah was the lifetime achievement award winner.
In addition to honoring Indian exporters, the awards also recognized foreign buyers, including one U.S.-based company, chain retailer Zale Corp.
The GJEPC said that this year’s awards followed a rigorous methodology and judging criteria based on a model developed by Dun & Bradstreet. The judges for this year’s awards were Smt. Nirupa Bhatt, managing director of India and the Middle East for the Gemological Institute of America, Shri K. Subrahmanyan, executive director of the Union Bank of India and Pawan Bindal, director at Dun & Bradstreet.
The GIA is the title partner of the India Gem & Jewellery Awards, while BVC Logistics is the platinum partner and Dun & Bradstreet is the knowledge partner.
