Appointments: IDCA elects board, directors

New York--Mehul Shah of Shivani Gems Inc. was re-elected president of the Indian Diamond & Colorstone Association by the organization’s board of directors.

Also elected to the executive committee for 2014 are Ashok Sancheti of Pioneer Gems, vice president; Prakash Mehta of Interings Inc., secretary; Nilesh Sheth of Nice Diamonds Inc., treasurer; and Sourabh Lashkery of Gemorex Intl. Inc. as joint secretary.

Elected as directors for 2014 are Rakesh Barmecha of Niru NY Ltd., Sushil Goyal of Liberty Gems Inc., Anu Hirawat of Vimco Diamond Corp., Kailash Jhalani of Prompt Gem Importers Inc., Alok Mehta of IDD, Atit Mehta of Atit Diamond Corp, Jay Mehta of Paras Diamond Corp. and Rayaz Takat of Takat Gems USA Inc.


Day’s Jewelers in Manchester, N.H. recently promoted Corey Johnston to assistant manager.

Johnston relocated to the Manchester store from the Day’s in Portland, Maine, where he served as manager-in-training. At the Manchester store, he will focus on enhancing customer experience.


The Providence Jewelers Club (PJC) donated $3,042 to Children’s Wishes of Rhode Island.

Children’s Wishes grants special requests of R.I. children facing life-threatening medical conditions with an emphasis on personalization.


The Journal of Gemmology, the publication of the Gemmological Institute of Great Britain (Gem-A), has named 25 new associate editors to its team.

The new editors are gemologists, gem dealers, university professors, laboratory researchers and museum curators from Europe, Asia and North America.
