Ethical sourcing organization celebrates 10 years
Milenyum Mining, miner of the color-change gemstone csarite, is among the sponsors of Ethical Metalsmiths’ “Gardens of Gold” auction celebrating the organization’s 10th anniversary.
In addition to its financial support of the event, the mining company also has donated an 8.36-carat oval-cut csarite to the online auction.
Gardens of Gold is a two-part fundraising event for the organization’s programs and outreach.
Since March 10, Ethical Metalsmiths has been holding an online auction of items that is open to the public. Bidding will take place through 9 p.m. EST on April 11.
There also will be an exhibition at jewelry atelier and gallery Linhardt Design in New York from April 7 to 11 to showcase the auction’s jewelry, which was made by Ethical Metalsmiths’ members from the United States and Canada.
In addition, Linhardt Design will host a cocktail party on April 8, serving as a celebration for the organization’s anniversary as well as a fundraiser with raffle tickets available for purchase.
Proceeds from the Gardens of Gold auction will go toward helping Ethical Metalsmiths build an innovative curriculum to educate emerging jewelers on how to work ethically from the start, advocating for ethical jewelry as the rule rather than the exception, and developing opportunities for artisanal miners to access markets.
The list of all items to be bid on, as well as more information for those interested in sponsoring, can be found here. Bidding for the 8.36-carat csarite can be found here.
The Ethical Metalsmiths organization’s mission is to help jewelers and consumers become informed activists for responsible mining, sustainable economic development and verified, ethical sources of materials used in the creation of jewelry.
