New York--Designer Margery Hirschey was the winner in the fine jewelry category of the Fashion Group International’s 17th annual Rising Star Awards, and was honored Tuesday night at a ceremony at Cipriani 42nd Street.
The Rising Star Awards recognize emerging talent in the fashion and design industries.
Hirschey, whose designs are carried in Fragments showroom in the SoHo neighborhood of New York, designs jewelry in 22- and 18-karat yellow gold and sterling silver with hand-cut gemstones, with a focus on color pairing and asymmetry.
She was trained as an artist and studied couture dressmaking before she launched her jewelry line in 2007, which debuted at a trunk show in the designer jewelry salon at Bergdorf Goodman the following year. Her jewelry has been on the red carpet and in national magazines, and was featured in the 2012 book The New Jewelers by Olivier Dupon.
In addition to fine jewelry, other categories in the Rising Star Awards have, in the past, included beauty/fragrance entrepreneur, beauty/fragrance corporate, home, interior design and men’s apparel.
Designer Alexandra Mor was the 2013 winner of the fine jewelry Rising Star Award.
