7 pieces from Ruta Reifen
I love meeting and learning about new designers and collections; it’s one of my favorite parts of this job.
Most recently I met Ruta Reifen, a Brooklyn-based designer who presented her jewelry collection to a panel I was part of at the JA New York show called “The Big Pitch,” where 12 new designers from the recently held JA New York Summer show were invited to present their jewelry collection to a panel of retailers and one member of the press (yours truly).
Her debut collection, “So Fine,” consists of earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets in 14-karat gold and sterling silver with colored gemstones, most commonly sapphires and rubies. All the pieces, hand-carved in wax, have a coral-like texture inspired by Reifen’s appreciation for organic forms, and influenced by nature and the ocean.
Check out seven pieces from the So Fine collection below.
