Editor’s Picks, Part 3: Blue and silver hues
Two of my favorite annual industry events took place in August, perking me up in spite of my inevitable and lurking end-of-summer blues.
Fragments’ Holiday Preview and the Jewelry Information Center’s (JIC) Fine Jewelry Preview both invite editors to see, try on and lust over an impressive spread of jewelry, including pieces from some of the best-known names in the industry.
It was a challenge, but I managed to narrow down some of my favorite pieces to share. After looking over my selections, it seems I have an affinity for blue and silver shades as of late.
Scroll down to see my picks.
Wendy Yue’s 18-karat gold ring with diamonds and opals, from the Fragments preview; to the right is a picture of the bauble on my hand.
Gurhan’s silver Cloister cuff, with 24-karat gold accents ($1,395), from the Silver Promotion Service table at the JIC preview. To the right, the cuff on my wrist.
This is Suzanne Kalan’s 18-karat rose gold ring with a pear-shaped Swiss blue topaz and baguette-cut champagne diamonds ($10,400), from the Fragments preview. I can’t get enough of this ring as I featured it in my August story on Pantone’s fall color report for 2013.
Frank Caballero’s 18-karat white and yellow gold ring is set with a 9.11-carat round Madeira citrine surrounded by diamonds ($6,000), from the American Gem Trade Association table at the JIC preview. The person modeling the ring is none other than our lovely Editor-in-Chief Michelle Graff, who may have missed her calling as a hand model.
Mortiz Glik’s 18-karat yellow gold and blackened silver necklace, with rose- and brilliant-cut diamonds enclosed in double white sapphires, from the Fragments preview
Goshwara’s detachable Hexagon earrings are 18-karat white gold with natural sapphires and diamonds ($48,000), from the JIC preview.
