Dallas Jewelers Arrested for Allegedly Fencing Stolen Goods
Douglas Brandenburgh and son Bryan Brandenburgh of Chancellor Jewelers in Dallas were arrested for their alleged connection to Texas’s “evening burglar.”
Dallas--A father and son who are in the jewelry business together face felony charges for their alleged connection to a burglar who is charged with stealing property from homes across Texas.
According to local news channel WFAA, Douglas Brandenburgh, 55, and his 34-year-old son Bryan Brandenburgh are charged with fencing jewelry stolen by the “evening burglar,” Corey Lee Caldwell, at their store, Chancellor Jewelers in Dallas.
Caldwell made headlines last year for breaking into the back of houses across Plano, Allen, Coppell and Dallas and stealing property. WFAA reported that it was Caldwell who provided the information that led to the arrest of the Brandenburghs.
He pled guilty to six felony counts in Dallas in December and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Caldwell still faces five felony counts in Collin County, local news said.
Douglas and Bryan Brandenburgh have operated Chancellor Jewelers out of an office building on Marvin D. Love Parkway in Dallas for decades. Now, both are facing first-degree felony charges of engaging in organized crime, which is punishable by a sentence of up to life in prison.
Caldwell’s indictment states that Bryan Brandenburg profited from the robberies between May 2015 and this month.
