AWCI Adds More ‘Build a Watch’ Classes to 2018 Schedule
The American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute is taking its popular five-hour course to more cities across the United States.

Harrison, Ohio--After seeing success with its “Build a Watch” class in Cincinnati and Las Vegas, the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute is taking it to even more cities across the United States.
The AWCI has added four new sessions:
--Aug. 11 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Richter & Phillips Jewelers in Cincinnati;
--Sept. 23 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at The Henry Hotel in Detroit;
--Oct. 9 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Austin Midtown in Austin, Texas; and
--Oct. 14 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Austin Midtown in Austin, Texas.
Beginning with a disassembled version, class participants will learn about correct lubrication, adjustments, servicing, timing and regulation as they build their own wristwatch powered by the ETA 6497 movement. They also will get to add the dial, hands, case and straps and take their completed timepiece home.
The class is an opportunity for members of the jewelry industry, particularly salespeople, to gain watch knowledge, the AWCI said. It’s also open to the public and could be of interest to watch enthusiasts.
It costs $995.
