From Centurion: Le Vian’s New Jewelry Watches

Le Vian is launching a line of jewelry watches aimed at filling a gap in the market for diamond-set women’s timepieces that hit a certain price point.

Le Vian’s new line of watches are positioned in a part of the Swiss watch market the company thinks is lacking--gem-set, price point-driven watches for women.

Scottsdale, Ariz.--Le Vian announced this week at Centurion that it is launching a line of jewelry watches for women. The project, two years in the making, is meant to fill a gap in the Swiss watch market for diamond-set women’s watches that hit a certain price point, the company said.

Le Vian brought in Steven Grotell, who has spent more than two decades designing watches for luxury brands, along with other industry experts to create the timepieces in collaboration with CEO Eddie LeVian. The watches combine diamonds with PVD-coated steel in various colors.

At the Centurion show, Grotell said the brand is trying to create a thread that will be woven throughout all of Le Vian’s categories, including jewelry and accessories as well as the watches, to create a “Le Vian lifestyle.”

Priced from $500 to $5,000 retail, the new collection is comprised of two jewelry watch lines, the Pary and the Kelsey Bangle, in various metal colors and designs. Retailers can buy into the 17-piece core collection for just under $15,000, Grotell said.

The Swiss-made Kelsey Bangle is part bangle bracelet and part watch, inspired by iconic Le Vian jewelry and the history of early 20th century cocktail watches. It features a three-piece case construction--the arms, the case body and their two connecting elements--and a Swiss quartz movement.

There are three varieties of this style. The Kelsey Bangle I features multiple metal combinations and white or brown diamonds totaling approximately 1.25 carats. The Kelsey Bangle II has fewer diamonds (about 0.30 carats) while the Kelsey Bangle III has none.

The Pary also has a Swiss quartz movement. It features a four-piece case construction; the brand said the extra piece allows for many arrangements and combinations as well as the ability to offer different price points.

Three versions of the Pary are available with a variety of metals and straps. The tailored straps are made with a techno silk-satin material that is said to be resistant to pilling and fraying, while the bracelet is composed of five individual links.

Pary I features six diamonds on the dial, 50 diamonds on the bezel and 17 diamonds on the side of the case, totaling approximately 2.22 total carats. The Pary II features six diamonds on the dial and 50 white or chocolate diamonds on the bezel totaling more than 1.25 carats, while the Pary III has just six diamonds weighing 0.04 total carats on the dial.
